National Donate Life Blue & Green Day 2016

90% of Americans support organ donation, but only 51% are registered. The need for organ and tissue transplants is always rising and the short supply of registered donors is ever present. We can close the gap with supporters, like you, helping to raise awareness.

Blue & Green Day is a celebration where people all over the nation flood the internet with photos incorporating the Donate Life colors. The more that join the movement, the more people we can reach to help make life possible. Additionally, a photo can be a great conversation piece to talk to those around you about donation.

National Donor Day 2016

Valentine’s Day also marks National Donor Day. National Donor Day is the annual celebration of donation in every form. This includes: organ, eye, tissue, blood, platelets and marrow.  Millions of people in need are helped by donation each year. The observance is also a time to appreciate our loved ones who have given the gift of donation or received a donation.

One of these very important gifts is tissue donation. The gift of tissue donation can restore a recipient’s mobility, smile or even save their life. That’s another chance to take a date ice skating in the brisk February air. It’s an opportunity to see a loved one’s renewed smile when they open their Valentine’s gift.  Someone will get to go on their first date because as an infant, they received a donated heart valve saving their life. A single tissue donor can help as many as 50 people. That’s a lot of future V-days!

While you may have already given your heart for Valentine’s Day, consider giving the rest of yourself to help those in need. Share the love by registering as an organ, eye, and tissue donor today. You can go to this mapB91NDTFIMAEo4Ez to find your state’s donor registry.

Hero Hustle 5k Run/Walk 2015

Community Tissue Services and Life Connection of Ohio will be hosting the 2nd Annual Hero Hustle 5K Run/Walk! Last year we ended up with over 600 participants and over 50 volunteers to make that amazing day possible.  We were so touched by the number of participants that our goal for this year is to have 800-1000 participants (or MORE)!  Some of the highlights from 2014 included: the donor family teams, recipient teams, supporter/corporate teams, a donor family and recipient meeting for the first time, blue and green balloon release in memory of the organ, eye and tissue donors that we celebrated, all of the amazing “Hero” costumes, the kids run, and so much more!
